" Role models for the younger generation in future environmental campaigns across the UK ...

Children arriving at school on Monday were devastated to find their greenhouse had been stolen. Thieves also went on a wrecking spree, ripping up the plants inside the greenhouse and throwing them all over the school garden.

Headteacher Annie Poole condemned the thieves who ruined months of hard work by her pupils. She said: “The children are crestfallen. They have worked really hard to fundraise for it and it’s very special because we’re trying to be an ecoschool.
Now it’s just gone. “I think it is incredibly sad that someone would do this.
“If they brought it back then it would be a wonderful lesson to the children, because that is one of the lessons we teach in school. “If you make a mistake and do something wrong, then it is okay if you make amends.”

Nicole Jackson, Teen Earth Girl UK 2010 made contact with the school to ask if she could make a special visit to the children to give a little surprise from the UK's only teen green goddess!

Teen Earth Girl UK 2010 winner, Nicole Jackson surprised the children with funds raised from the 2010 Miss Earth Grand Final to the heartbroken children, who could not believe a real princess had arrived at their school and staff were are over the moon with this gesture of kindness from a teenager and the Miss Earth organisation who officially launch the Girls4Trees UK Project campaign at the 2010 Miss Earth grand final.

Nicole will now be helping the children of Reception and Year 1 to re build their vegetable garden in September.  Reception teacher Julie Steven said, we are so grateful for the wonderful offer our school has received from Nicole Jackson from Bolton who will also receive a memory plaque from the school in her name for the kind donation to add the finishing touch to the new garden.

Once the garden is ready the children will be learning about growing and will maintain the garden in their outdoor time.  It will also benefit the school's eco-committee (9/10 year olds) as they will also help to maintain the garden and will hopefully sell some of the vegetables on the school playground.  Other children across school will also be using the vegetables for cooking projects. Nicole and Miss Earth can not wait to see how the finished garden will look next March.

Miss Earth Semi Finalist
Scotland 2009

Tari Roberston-
In entering Miss Earth May 09, I took an active role, in helping raise awareness and helping devise ways of tackling problems such as conserving energy and recycling. My environmental project was to tackle fast fashion and through my volunteer position (youth services) at Yorkhill hospital, and my knowlegde through my fashion marketing course/degree i utilised my resources to run fashion workshops to promote the use of old clothes to create new. (T-shirt customisation using charity shop rag bags) Children/ teens in hospital where able to actively tackle the problem of fast fashion as well as feeling accomplished in designing/ customising there own clothing. My workshops ran through May and July this year.

Miss Earth competiton gave me a chance to use my skills as an aspiring model/ student and volunteer. " beauties for a cause" as well as boost my confidence as an individual to go out and make changes and have an active role within the community.

"My environmental message would be to conserve enegry and recycle. Reducing waste is vital as our planet must be sustainable for generations to come. If not for our children but for our childrens children. " Thank you for voting for me.
