2011 Semi Finalists so far...
Miss Earth visited 12 regions in Northern Ireland. Our semi finalists hit the street's to promote a clean and healthy environment. Some of the tasks included energy saving advise, loose the wheels and go for the heels walking and cycling campaign to growing your own fruit and veg to name but a few. The tour ended with all our semi finalists taking part in a fashion shoot held in the gardens of the Botanic Gardens in Belfast leading to the very 1st Belfast ethical fair-trade fashion show bringing our 2009 search to a close. From there 6 out of our 12 regional winners where selected to head to the Northern Ireland crowing ceremony with the eventual winner representing the Derry region
was crowned Miss Earth -Northern Ireland 2009 Kayleigh O'Reilly.

The world is our home, where we live if we take one moment from our busy lives and look at how man is destroying the earth it should make us feel distraught inside. I believe we should as in the words of Wordsworth be ''at one with nature''. The sea, the rivers, the mountains, the flowers, the birds of the air and the creatures of the deep all depend on us to nurture them like a mother nurtures her new born baby and we have to do this we need to stop destroying our planet and embrace it or we could end up destroying it and the lives of future generations forever. |
